Finally, Good News!

So yesterday after waiting over two days for a response from the nurse, I finally got a call from the nurse and the doctor late yesterday afternoon. They were concerned that he was still spitting up, so they wanted a weight check and to start him on some fancy new formula that is super hypoallergenic and dairy free. I am still not convinced it is an allergy, but I'm willing to try it. We will still be mixing it with the rice cereal. He doesn't seem to like it very much, but I am hoping that he gets used to it after a few more feedings. He also is not a fan of having to take a bottle in the middle night (I'm not a fan of making a bottle in the middle of the night), but we will both get used to it.

In case, I can go back to breastfeeding later, I am pumping and freezing my breast milk. I'm getting really sick of pumping, but if it means I might be able to go back to breastfeeding, I'm going to keep at it.

Anyways, this morning I brought Ezra in for a weight check. He weighed 13 lbs 4.5 oz! That was a 1 lb 12.5 oz weight gain in ten days! I am sure this is because of all the prayers on his behalf. Thank you all for your prayers!

This is not the end of this medical journey for Ezra though. Tuesday he will be seen by the GI specialist again to make sure that he is still growing. He is still spitting up quite a bit. He probably gained weight due to the fact that his feedings had extra calories in them. He has also not been pooping very well the last couple of days (probably because of the high amount of rice cereal). So he will still probably need to be monitored for a while to make sure he continues to gain weight. Although we are very pleased with this weight gain, we want to make sure this was not a fluke.
